The Chicago Minuteman Project is a citizens rights group in compliance with the National Minuteman Standard Operational Procedures. The Chicago Minuteman Project encourages elected public servants to uphold and preserve the United States Constitution through the enforcement of law. The Chicago Minuteman Project is not a racist organization and welcomes participation from all citizens and legal residents of the United States of America. The "racist" label is a tactic frequently used by our opponents in their attempts to end civil discussion of the dangers posed by illegal immigration.

"Free Ramos and Compean"
Nationwide Campaign

Friends of American Freedom Riders and Supporters of Nacho Ramos and Jose Compean,

You are invited to actively participate in our "Free Ramos and Compean" campaign.

We are all determined to continue the fight to free Nacho Ramos and Jose Compean and the American Freedom Riders feel strongly that our noise level should remain high and constant. It is important that we convince the Justice Department and George Bush that the opposition to the imprisonment of these agents will continue to increase in volume rather than subside

The implications of this fight go far beyond the treatment of agents Ramos and Compean. At stake here is the ability of all border Patrol agents to effectively enforce our immigration laws without fear of prosecution. Having talked to a lot of agents, it is clear that they have been forced into a passive mode of conduct.

While various individual events are currently in planning in different areas and will be very productive, we want to make a statement every single weekend around the entire country. Our recent 22 city protest was highly visible and it only makes sense to follow up on that effort and expand it. Considering the short preparation time and the unbearably cold weather in some parts of the country, the January 13 nationwide protest was a truly inspirational display of patriotism. Let's build on it.
Our protest participants will be divided into four groups, one group for each weekend of the month. Each weekend, the cities in the scheduled group will hold a public protest on behalf of the agents. We believe that more cities will join us as our effort becomes known and that we will soon be a force which is difficult to ignore - a constant noise which will bring increased awareness to the general public. As our force grows, so too will our influence.

Let Nacho know we care and will keep rallying until he's free.

I just finished calling President Bush (again! 202-456-1111) to say that Border Agents Compean and Ramos should be exonerated or pardoned and that Prosecutor Johnny Sutton should be investigated. Then, I wrote a card to Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos. Here's his address:

Ignacio Ramos #58079-180
FCI Yazoo City Medium
Federal Correctional Institution
P. O. Box 5888
Yazoo City, MS 39194

It's my understanding that Agent Compean's address is not being released for his own safety.
