Post subject: Hold Their Feet to the Fire-April 2007-Washington, DC

Where to begin to explain this event??!! There are 3 different organizers working together but separately, so some events overlap.

It all takes place in Washington, D.C. from Sunday, April 22 to Wednesday, April 25, 2007.

On Sunday: D.A. Kingholds a rally in Lafayette Park with lots of great speakers!

FAIR will train people in how to lobby.
Roger Hedgecock's group will form teams, pass out info, tour D.C.

Well-known radio talkshow hosts from around the country will broadcast live from D.C. from dawn til midnight on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. You can sit in and listen live.

We'll lobby Congress every day in groups. You'll get to see first hand how Congress works (or doesn't) and tell them in person that the American people want enforcement of immigration laws and NO AMNESTY!

There will be a screening of Chris Burgard's movie "Border;" a fund-raiser for the imprisoned Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean; dinners featuring presidential candidates Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo.

While we are there, American truckers are supposed to form a blockade to protest the NAFTA superhighway and trucking jobs going to Mexicans who are not constrained by our laws and work longer hours for less money.

I'll post links to various websites so you can look up the agenda, register for events, and make travel arrangements.

Some people want to share rooms to save money. Even though D.C.'s hotels and restaurants are filled with immigrant workers from every corner of the world, it sure isn't helping to keep the costs down! It's not unusual to pay over $300 per night for a hotel! Some cost $500-600 per night!
